Make the memories of a lifetime and “sea” the world from a new perspective with a Moosehead Lake seaplane tour.
Moosehead Lake is beautiful no matter how you choose to enjoy it. Whether hiking a trail, floating on the water, or relaxing on shore, the area’s natural beauty is undeniable. That being said, one of the best Moosehead Lake activities is seeing the area from above on a high-flying seaplane tour.
The Moosehead Lake region is vast, with miles and miles of undisturbed nature. It is largely uninhabited, so often, the only way to see the thousands of acres of beauty is from a bird’s-eye view. The spectacular scenery stretches out below you like an enormous quilt: unbroken vistas of dense woods, sheltered meadows, high mountains, and lush river valleys as far as the eye can see.
Floatplane tours can be more than just a scenic flight, too. A seaplane can provide transportation for a remote fishing expedition, a day of paddling on the lake, and more.
Seaplanes are small but comfortable, providing unlimited access to the views stretching below you on all sides. Your pilot will also act as a guide, directing you to points of interest and regaling you with tales of the region.
Did you know that seaplanes take off from and land on the water, not an airport runway? This is another reason why Moosehead Lake seaplane tours are a unique and must-do experience!
Annual International Seaplane Fly-In
Seaplanes are an essential part of Moosehead Lake’s history, and this heritage is celebrated annually during the International Seaplane Fly-In.
The International Seaplane Fly-In is Moosehead Lake’s largest annual festival, held the weekend after Labor Day every year. The event brings pilots and seaplane enthusiasts to Moosehead Lake from all over. It’s a massive festival with all types of seaplanes, a craft fair, live entertainment, and much more.
The 2024 International Seaplane Fly-In at Moosehead Lake will be held from September 5th through 8th and will be the 50th Annual Seaplane Fly-In!
